Using our Academy hotel helps us reach the minimum room block that permits us to obtain reduced prices for our meetings. Failing to meet that block can lead to a substantial cost penalty to the Academy. Please consider impacts on the Academy when considering other housing.
Vaccination Required: To register for the 2023 Annual Meeting, you must be fully vaccinated and provide a copy of your vaccination card with the corresponding ID. NAAL will keep a record of your card through January 6, 2023. After January 6, 2023, all copies of vaccine cards will be purged and deleted. A copy of your card and ID can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Masking in Public Spaces: All attendees will be expected to wear a mask at all events in public spaces in the hotel, unless actively eating or drinking. Seating protocols will be followed for gatherings at tables and in meeting rooms. Seminars will decide on mask protocols for themselves.
Local Protocols: We will adhere to any additional protocols required by Toronto, the province of Ontario, and the Canadian government. Wearing masks on planes and trains is no longer required, but still strongly recommended.
To save time upon arrival, every traveler to Canada, including those entering by car, are encouraged to download the ArriveCan app and complete all entry requirements stated in the app. For the latest information on arrivals to Canada, click here.

Seminars are at the heart of our Annual Meeting. These working groups foster the scholarly exchange of our members on a wide variety of liturgical topics. Seminar members actively support and learn from one another in and sometimes across our chosen specialties within the wider fields of liturgical studies and allied disciplines.
Emerging Scholars is a group for liturgy scholars in the early stages of their career, particularly tailored to the needs of those in graduate school up through the first few years of their first permanent position. Anyone is welcome to attend the Emerging Scholars meetings. They provide a space for peer-to-peer networking, advice on writing and job searches, a spotlight on the work of visitors and new members, and an introduction to the work of the Academy, as well as giving emerging scholars a chance to reflect on the future of the Academy. Contact Kim Belcher for more information.
A number of denominations and associations gather in conjunction with our Annual Meeting. Beginning in 2022, these meetings will be held following the annual meeting. Interested participants should contact the meeting organizers directly for more information.
If you would like to host a post-meeting, complete the form below no later than November 30.
Before applying for full membership in the Academy, candidates are ordinarily expected to participate at least twice in the Annual Meeting as approved visitors.
In addition to participating in the regular events at the annual meeting, there are several events especially for visitors.
During the annual meeting, members gather to share their research and scholarship, to celebrate one another’s accomplishments, and to conduct the business of the Academy.
